Video Games
Updated: Sep 7, 2019
Video games are a huge part of Korean youth culture. Championships are held across East Asia and their winners are celebrities, and crazy rich. The most popular games to play are open world games, like ‘Lineage’, this involves live strategising and communicating with others playing the game, and often played as a form of stress relief from the harsh reality of the school systems (see ‘University’ post). They’re so popular because they bring the community together, allowing communication between players has often led to groups meeting up outside of a PC room. But, video games are rapidly moving to mobile formats so PC rooms (See ‘Rooms’ post) aren’t as popular anymore, although you’ll still find at least 5 people at a computer at any one time.
